How to Measure

How to Measure for Your Popular Blinds

Getting the right fit for your new blinds is easier than you think! With just a few simple measurements, you can achieve a made-to-measure look that’s stylish, functional, and perfectly tailored to your windows. Follow our quick guide below to get started.

Before You Begin

A few handy tips to ensure accurate measurements:

  • Use a metal tape measure – fabric or plastic tapes can stretch and lead to inaccurate readings.

  • Measure twice, order once – double-check all measurements before placing your order.

  • Take measurements in millimetres (mm) for best precision.

  • Measure in three places (top, middle, and bottom for width; left, centre, and right for drop) and record the smallest measurement.

Inside Recess (Recess Fit)

Choose this method if you want your blinds to sit neatly inside the window recess.

  1. Measure the width of the inside recess from wall to wall at the top, middle, and bottom.

  2. Measure the drop (height) from the top of the recess to the window sill on the left, middle, and right.

  3. Record the smallest measurements for both width and drop.

  4. When you provide us these sizes, we’ll make the necessary deductions to ensure your blinds fit perfectly within the recess.

Ideal for a clean, built-in look.

Outside Recess (Face Fix)

Choose this option if you’d like your blinds to sit outside the window frame and overlap the opening.

  1. Measure the width of the area you’d like the blind to cover. We recommend extending at least 50–100mm past the window on each side to block out more light.

  2. Measure the drop from the top of where you want the blind to start to where you’d like it to finish.

  3. Use these exact measurements when placing your order – we’ll make your blind to these sizes.

Perfect for maximum light control and a bold window feature.
